About the role

As a Senior Network Planning Engineer at TasNetworks, you are responsible for proactively identifying, describing, and highlighting emerging issues which could pose a risk to the reliability, security or operation of the network, based on your expertise and knowledge of the Tasmanian power system (or other systems/networks in Australia).

The role provides technical direction for core planning activities and engineering support and analysis of power systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements. The role is also responsible for conducting technical and cost assessments, identifying solutions, efficiencies and constraints, undertaking simulations to identify network limitations, initiation of capital works projects based on analysis and testing and preparation of relevant documentation and reporting.

About you

You will have extensive engineering or system planning experience relevant to the Electricity Supply Industry, and hold a Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent). You will have a proven understanding of power system components (generation, transmission and distribution) including system design, operation and NER requirements. You will also bring:

  • Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage workflows and make effective decisions on complex technical issues
  • Understanding of the Power Industry Regulation Framework and ability to adapt these principles
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration and a proven ability to test, simulate and analyse systems
  • Ability to work autonomously, using your professional judgement and experience to meet deadline and achieve results
