Hours per week: Permanent part-time role (NSW Spinal Outreach Service) - 32hrs per week, level 3/4 dependent on experience, commencing NOV 2024. Temporary full-time role (Spinal Injury Unit) - 38hrs per week with an ADO, Level 3, 12-month contract commencing JUN 2024.

About the role..

Royal Rehab has two exciting opportunities for suitably qualified, AHPRA registered and experienced Occupational Therapists to join our Spinal Injury Services.  

NSW Spinal Outreach Occupational Therapist: The successful applicant will contribute to the clinical management for clients with spinal cord injury living in metropolitan areas of Sydney and across rural NSW as part of the Rural Spinal Cord Injury Service. Service delivery will include regular multidisciplinary clinics in rural NSW, Telehealth, and outpatient-based clinics at Royal Rehab Ryde. The position has a strong focus on education of rural clinicians and GPs across the state. Ability to travel 3 times per year for up to 4 days is an essential requirement of the role, as is availability of own vehicle.   

Inpatient Spinal Injury Unit Occupational Therapist: The successful applicant will join our multidisciplinary team to provide specialised rehabilitation to a spinal cord Injury case load in our inpatient Spinal Injury Unit. As a senior member of the team you will provide high quality, evidence based and timely Occupational Therapy services to clients to maximise function, performance of activities of daily living and participation in activities that are meaningful to the client.

Key responsibilities include:

  • As an experienced and highly motivated Occupational Therapist with well-developed clinical and interpersonal skills, you will be working within a collaborative team. 

  • Managing complex disability, in spinal cord injury (SCI). 

  • Managing multiple competing caseload demands.

  • Participating in the development and delivery of clinician education, and contributing to the service development of the team and organisation, through contributions to working parties and quality projects deemed relevant to this role. 

About you..

We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with: 

  • Full Occupational Therapy registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA).  

  • Current C unrestricted NSW driver license or equivalent and access to a vehicle.  

  • Competent computer user, specifically with Microsoft products.  

  • Extensive clinical experience in the management of people with complex spinal cord injury.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach professionals, community workers and family.  

  • Sound knowledge of community-based services.  

  • Proven ability to network and develop relationships both internal and external to the organisation.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both written and orally.  

  • Ability to work independently and proven commitment to working effectively within a team framework. 

  • Demonstrated abilities in time management to manage competing client and non-client facing job duties.
