NDIS at WISE assists participants living with a mental illness to live to their full potential and enhance their independence with everyday activities. Our Mental Health Occupational Therapists achieve this by assisting participants to build key living skills, manage their mental health and be supported to achieve their goals.
As our Senior Mental Health Occupational Therapist, you will provide leadership and guidance to our NDIS Mental Health Occupational Therapists. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Psychosocial NDIS Manager to design, implement and lead the expansion of our psychosocial services within the NDIS.
You will also provide clinical supervision to our NDIS Mental Health Occupational Therapists. You will have the opportunity to establish an Occupational Therapy specific Community of Practice and work closely with the Psychosocial NDIS Manager to ensure consistent and high quality NDIS functional and psychosocial assessments using a range of assessment tools identified by the NDIA.
This role will have the opportunity to manage a small caseload in addition to their senior responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Use a range of different assessment tools as a foundation for the development of appropriate clinical formulations and planning of supports and therapeutic interventions
Conduct functional capacity assessments, sensory assessments and relevant cognitive assessments
Contribute to the development and improvement of NDIS service delivery
Apply the local and national mental health system, including relevant frameworks, and support clients to navigate and access appropriate mental health supports
Apply advanced understanding of mental health diagnoses and how to identify symptoms associated with these
Apply the principles of trauma-informed practice and have the ability to coach and mentor less experienced NDIS Mental Health Occupational Therapists in recognising the prevalence of trauma in our NDIS participants
Apply the principles of recovery oriented practice and work closely with the Psychosocial NDIS Manager to integrate the NDIS Psychosocial Recovery Framework into our practice
Facilitate a Community of Practice for our growing team
Represent WISE and the NDIS team by presenting at forums/conferences
About you:
An approved degree from a recognised School of Occupational Therapy and eligibility for membership to the Occupational Therapy Association
Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
Commitment to participation and documentation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that is aligned with Australian Occupational Therapy Competency Standards and individual learning goals
Commitment to ongoing clinical supervision
Understanding of the NDIS framework and its complexities
Experience and demonstrated skills working with people with a disability
Experience in providing clinical supervision to Occupational Therapists
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent IT literacy, planning, coordination and time management

Full Australian working rights, ability to satisfy National Police Check, Working with Children Check and Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme clearance.
