Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting patient consultations and examinations to assess gastrointestinal health
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including endoscopies and biopsies
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal issues
- Performing therapeutic procedures such as polyp removal and stricture dilation
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Staying updated on advances in gastroenterology and incorporating best practices into clinical care
- Providing education and guidance to patients regarding their conditions and treatment options
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and treatment strategies
- Documenting patient care and maintaining accurate medical records
- Adhering to ethical and legal standards in patient care and interactions
- Participating in quality improvement and research initiatives related to gastroenterology
- Participating in on-call schedules as required
Required Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship program
- Licensure to practice medicine in the designated location
- Proven experience in performing diagnostic procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies
- Expertise in therapeutic procedures including polypectomy and dilation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in assessing gastrointestinal conditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with patients and colleagues
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care and ethical conduct
- Ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive and dynamic clinical environment
- Demonstrated dedication to ongoing professional development and continued medical education
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical record systems
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in gastroenterological practice
- Capability to adapt to changing healthcare trends and technologies
- Flexibility to work effectively in a part-time capacity, including on-call responsibilities
