- Qualifications in Business administration and /or Management or equivalent work experience in the events, venues, and/or creative industries.
- Ability to build a team and lead people by nurturing strong relationships, providing clear direction, training, and support.
- Highly developed administrative ability with contract management experience and exceptional written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
- Significant understanding of venue management including ticketing, front of house, customer service, technical and production, hospitality and business development and the ability to develop new policies, systems, and procedures.
- Clear understanding of risk management and workplace health and safety responsibilities related to venue management.
- Demonstrated digital literacy across various software, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office, ticketing platforms, and venue management software.
- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
- Lead the Venues Services Team, effectively developing and harnessing the team’s strengths to deliver excellence in customer service and venues operation.
- Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships to enhance the profile and reputation of Gympie Regional Council Venues (predominantly the Gympie Civic Centre and The Pavilion Conference and Events Centre).
- Ensure a safe environment for staff, customers, and audiences by maintaining knowledge of all safety and emergency management policies and procedures to ensure that these policies and procedures are current and implemented effectively.
- Coordinate major or more complex bookings, liaising with potential venue hirers and event coordinators (during the booking process and provide quotes, venue tours and offer services, as required).
- Liaise internally with other council departments to ensure good communication and inter-organisational cooperation, optimising the use of venues and collaboration regarding staffing for Council supported events and functions.
- Oversee outward facing services including ticketing, food and beverage service and front of house.
- Collaborate with Council’s Marketing and Communication team to ensure that the venues and their events are promoted effectively through a range of communication channels to increase visitation and stimulate hirer growth.
- Develop, implement and review policies and procedures for the effective, efficient and safe operation of the venues and its programs, in keeping with best practice industry standards (as relevant to the regional context).
- Undertake business unit planning and reporting, managing the physical/facility, human and financial resources of the venues within allocated budget.
- Subject to Executive Team and/or Council approval, actively pursue external funding and revenue streams to enhance Venues initiatives.
