We have an exciting opportunity in the Clinical Oracle DBA team for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator.

Reporting into Team Leader, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Oracle based database services with emphasis on business roadmap activities, customer satisfaction, process improvement and migration/transition project support. Working closely with Team’s member, Application Administrator, Cloud Engineer, System and Backup/restore Team.

What you will do

As an integral member of the Clinical Oracle DBA team, you will:

  • Perform proactive problem resolution and complex problem analysis as necessary, to maintain system performance to meet user demand
  • Participate in projects to on board new customers and services to the Oracle Database platforms
  • Develop, maintain and perform operational procedures and ensure operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages
  • Evaluate new solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology. Provide advice and recommendation to ICT programs and teams on opportunities for service improvement
  • Take initiative and look for opportunities in the Change and Event Management domain to improve processes and ensure compliance with NSW Health methodologies
  • Train and mentor other team members to ensure they have the knowledge and abilities to assist other eHealth teams as well as existing LHD and Service Desk personnel for resolution of complex database service related issues
  • Preparation of reports that document the various performance characteristics and technical issues that relate to the successful delivery of the Oracle database service
  • Provide technical advice on critical IT projects utilising Oracle Engineered system and AWS technologies

About you

The skills, knowledge and experience we are looking for in you are:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in supporting Oracle environments
  • Good working experience in Oracle products including Recovery Manager (RMAN), Enterprise Manager (OEM), database cloning and data migration utilities
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in applying advice, knowledge and skills in database server design and administration to provide database services which meet customer requirements and adopt/manage solutions that support high availability and disaster recovery
  • Experience with Oracle in AWS and Exadata
  • Can work independently or in a team environment

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form-IM011 form). Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

To be eligible for this role, you must have current Australian work rights (Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen with a current passport, or hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia).

Please note, pursuant to the Award which governs the employment conditions of this role, 'Exempt' is defined as a fixed term contract with a length greater than 13 weeks.
