The Opportunity

We are on the search for a well rounded Senior Paraplanner who can compliment our highly experienced team and play a pivotal role within our organisation. 

You'll be working closely with and supporting our Financial Advisers in a range of key responsibilities such as the preparation of Statements and Records of Advice for the Strategic Financial Planning Group. You will focus on building avenues for strong compliance processes and drive continuous improvement in the way we work. You will also build strong relationships with key stakeholders and clientele, as well as maintain an excellent level of knowledge of current trends, changes and market shifts in the industry.

Our fun and dedicated team is based on Queen Street in Melbourne's CBD, and we are searching for that special someone to join and further drive our success. You will have the ability to build flexibility into your work week, with a healthy mix of remote and in-office work.

Our Senior Paraplanner will oversee following:

  • Prepare comprehensive Statements of Advice (SoA's), Records of Advice (RoA's) and compliance documentation for Senior Financial Advisers.
  • Review and prepare relevant Financial Modelling for client situations (Xplan, Xtools).
  • Complete risk insurance analysis and product comparisons for advisers.
  • Undertake relevant research and development of suitable asset allocation and investments to assist with client’s strategy development, including the use of Wealthsolver software for comparisons and model portfolios.
  • Use of Risk Researcher software to provide appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Oversee Ongoing Service Arrangements (OSA) and assisting Financial Advisers in ensuring service agreements are achieved.
  • Ensuring all advice documents issued by SFPA and related procedures are compliant in accordance with Licensee guidelines.
  • Consistent with Financial Group standards, under supervision, participate in client meetings and engagements with the provision of advice.
  • Attend appropriate courses, research latest trends in financial planning and investment markets to ensure an up-to-date understanding of the financial planning profession and legislation is maintained
  • Maintain product, technical and compliance knowledge/requirements in accordance with the practice and industry guidelines
  • Maintain understanding the Future of Financial Advice obligations and ensure compliance with this and other regulatory legislation and standards.
  • Continue professional studies towards CFP if requested
  • Assist in improving, developing and delivering services offered.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications and Advanced Diploma of Financial Services or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in paraplanning or similar.
  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Sound technical knowledge of current legislative, industry and corporate standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • An understanding of compliance issues associated with the provision of financial advice.
  • Strong computer skills and using programs such as MS word, excel etc.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and retain relationships necessary for the development of rapport and empathy with SFPA Advisers and Strategic Partners.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong service ethic.
  • Ability to deliver to deadlines, at times under pressure.

Desirable characteristics

  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel computer skills.
  • Calm and measured approach to problem solving.
  • Use of financial planning software such as Xplan and X-Tools modelling competent.
  • Familiar with SMSF strategies and legislative framework.
