About the Opportunity
Fonterra are seeking an experienced and solutions focussed Senior Payroll Officer for our Australian-based operations.
This is an amazing opportunity for a highly skilled Senior Payroll professional to join a new, Australian-based Payroll team, in this business critical and highly visible role.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager AUS, this role will see you partner with the business providing critical, timely and accurate payroll services across our Australian regions to support our people. This includes the day-to-day management of employment lifecycle events, payment calculations and reporting, through to highly specialised, often complex technical delivery of legislative and contractual changes to ensure compliance with employment laws and policy.
As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be working closely alongside the Payroll Officers, Senior Payroll Consultant and Payroll Consultant where you will be responsible for the efficient, effective, and accurate processing of all payroll and time and attendance related transactional processes for the Australia region. This includes time and attendance validation, payroll master data maintenance, quality and audit reporting and processing of in cycle and out of cycle pay runs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service and performance outcomes for our internal customers and regulatory partners within our agreed service level agreements.
- Frequently assess the payroll, time and attendance systems and processes used by the Payroll Services team and business units.
- Provide strong leadership and development to the Payroll Services team.
- Drives improvements in quality or capacity across the team through process change or system improvement.

Based at our Richmond office (free parking) this role will see you operating within a hybrid work model, with work-from-home (WFH) flexibility.
About You
You are already an experienced payroll professional and have a desire to bring your best into this space to create value.
We are looking for experience gained within a large, complex, and multi-layered payroll department, coming from a business with both a white- and blue-collar workforce. Your expertise in navigating multiple agreements and legislative changes will see you excel in this position.
As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will have well versed knowledge in Australian payroll and employment legislation and have a desire to drive results and continuous improvements. You appreciate the importance of smooth-running processes, consistent and quality results delivered by a motivated team.
You will also have:
- 5+ years Australian Payroll or HR experience, ideally 3+ years in a senior role.
- Experience operating in payroll within an EBA environment.
- Experience dealing with unions will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of iChris, Kronos advantageous.
