An exciting opportunity for an experienced Petrographer to take the lead of the performance and duties in the area of coal and coke petrographic services in the organisation’s regional office. This position sits within the Coal Technology division, which focuses on end-use utilisation performance of metallurgical, PCI and thermal coals.
The successful applicant will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the petrography laboratory
- Execution of the coal petrographic analyses and microscopy in general
- Responsible for validation of outgoing petrography reports and equipment maintenance and repairs
- Participate in coal and coke research
- Ensure operation maintains the highest level of quality standards
- Responsible for Self-led management of daily activities
- Involved in reporting, client liaison, data validation, consumable management and monthly invoicing duties
In order to be considered you will have:
- Degree in Science or Engineering (ie – Geology, Materials Science or Metallurgy)
- Prior experience in coal petrology
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills, literacy
- High level of attention to detail
- Experience in utilising a computer-based laboratory information system
- Ability to self-manage workload
