A great opportunity for a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering technology team, specifically focused on Database technologies, Cloud practices, and the creation and iteration of platforms for general use at Domain.
The Platform Engineering team sits within Product Technology. It is responsible for designing and supporting modern stable and high-performance infrastructure to run the products and websites built by the development teams and to support the business as they release new products. Over the last 3 years, the team has evolved from DevOps to Cloud Platforms and now to Platform Engineering, where we have gone from reactive, ad hoc support of our developer base to creating thin platforms for general use at Domain to reduce and/or remove undifferentiated heavy lifting in the business. The role would be predominantly working with our Data/AI/ML team.
Who are you?
The ideal candidate will…
Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to consult, design and implement new features and integrations.
Provide solid input into the project planning and risk identification process, estimate effort and delivery timeframes and schedule work activities across multiple projects within the team such that they meet agreed milestones which represent the priorities of the business.
Provide timely analysis of the impact of new ideas from the business stakeholders and technology.
Build platform capabilities for the Data Team to assist in key projects such as implementing data controls, Privacy solutions and ISO implementation
Assist and support the development teams in operating the production infrastructure. This includes supporting legacy infrastructure and designing a migration path to modernise the tech stack
Contribute towards the continual improvement of the team.
Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the team and suggest improvements
Spread knowledge throughout the team.
Conduct code reviews and constructively critique your peers
Take ownership of self-training, ensuring to continue to learn and improve.
Attributes
In-depth experience in a System Engineer/ DevOps / Cloud engineer role
Enterprise experience with AWS or other cloud providers such Azure or GCP
Experience with Continuous Deployment tools such as Jenkins, Octopus or CircleCi
Knowledge of languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Java, JavaScript, Node.js
Terraform experience
Containers management experience
SQL Server Database management experience
Source control experience with Git
E2E experience Cloud Platform pipelines including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, Continuous Testing and Monitoring
Experience working with Apache Airflow, Tableau, DataIKU, Alation would be advantageous but not essential
Experience implementing security and compliance controls that meet ISO standards
Experience working with external stakeholders
