  • Salary: $102,641 - $110,094 p.a. – AHP3; Temporary Part-Time – 15 hours per week, up until 30 September 2024

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Senior Podiatrist within the Aged Care, Rehabilitation & Palliative Care Division & Allied Health Division

The Senior Podiatrist (Rehabilitation) is responsible to the Senior Manager Northern Adelaide Rehabilitation Service Northern Adelaide Local Health Network for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of quality Podiatry services for Rehabilitation patients of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN).

To be eligible for this position,

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Podiatry which is registrable with Podiatry Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills:

  • An ability to manage to the spirit and principles of the premier’s safety Commitment and the legislative requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA), utilising AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management- Principles and Guidelines, or to an equivalent set of standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the physical demands of the position and to utilise sound manual handling and safe work practices
  • Advanced ability to implement patient centred and evidence-based practice within the Rehabilitation setting
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and competency in Podiatry assessment and treatment techniques with a broad range of clinical skills as well as advance skills in managing complex/high risk patients
  • High level skills in orthotic manufacturing and troubleshooting for the management of foot and ankle pathologies.
  • Ability to refer/escalate complex high-risk foot cases requiring specialist multi-disciplinary input in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare concise, accurate and timely clinical reports and workload data.
  • Ability to work effectively as a clinical leader within the podiatry and multidisciplinary Rehabilitation team including; contribution and leadership in clinical meetings; supervision of staff and students; flexibility; working independently and within an inter-disciplinary team; managing variable workloads and competing priorities; and adapting to changing service provision needs and implementing quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective networks and partnerships with a broad range of culturally diverse clients and stakeholders, including patients and their families, community services / agencies and other service providers
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including negotiation, consultation and conflict resolution skills in a respectful and ethical manner
  • Demonstrated commitment to improve personal and professional skills through self-directed learning and evaluation in line with LHN objectives.

Experience

  • Experience in working within Rehabilitation Podiatry to enable input at a senior clinician level.
  • Extensive experience in managing complex clinical caseload with wide range of podiatry clinical skills
  • Extensive experience in biomechanical analysis, ordering and interpretation of radiology (Xray and US), and managing high risk foot pathology in the Rehabilitation setting
  • Experience in staff/student supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective development, implementation and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures and quality improvement relevant to the service.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and database packages).

Knowledge

  • Extensive evidence based clinical knowledge relating to Rehabilitation and High Risk Podiatry to enable safe and effective work practice 
  • Knowledge of contemporary Podiatry practice within a Rehabilitation model
  • Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and procedures.
  • Understanding of the Australian National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards.
  • Knowledge of continuous Quality Improvement principles and methods

DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in a field relevant to Rehabilitation Podiatry.     

Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and innovation in work practices in Podiatry Rehabilitation

Experience

  • Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing.
  • Experience in undertaking research activities within an Allied Health context.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated understanding and compliance with LHN Delegation of Authority.
