The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
Are you ready to step into an exciting role that shapes the future of consumer affairs policy in Victoria? We have an opportunity for three Senior Policy Officer's to join us at the Department of Government Services, where your expertise will drive impactful change in regulatory policy and dispute resolution. As part of the Regulation Policy Branch, you'll contribute to initiatives outlined in the Housing Statement, ensuring better housing outcomes and fair-trading practices for all Victorians.
In this position you'll develop high-quality advice for key stakeholders, including the Minister for Consumer Affairs and departmental executives, navigating complex legislative environments. Utilising your ability to effectively prioritise tasks, you'll work under limited supervision to manage projects and activities to deliver policy reviews, proposals and undertake research. As a vital member of our team, you'll have an opportunity to work alongside a diverse and supportive team dedicated to making a positive impact and driving continuous improvement.
Contracts available:
- One 36-month fixed term contract
- One 24-month fixed term contract
- One 12-month fixed term contract
About you
To be considered for the role, you must demonstrate:
- Demonstrated ability to develop project briefs consistent with business plan direction
- Demonstrated ability to formulate policy and legislation options and advice
- Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more clients or stakeholders and uses them to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.
- Resilience: Keeps self and others calm when under pressure; is decisive and charts course of actions enabling teams to resolve a challenging situation.
- Communicate with Impact: Makes a positive impression on others and comes across with credibility; communicates orally in a manner that is clear fluent and holds the listeners' attention; able to deal with difficult and sensitive topics and questions.
