About the Role
**This is a Full-Time Fixed-Term position until the 30th of June 2025**
The Activity Centre Program is a key Housing Statement initiative, to deliver more homes close to services, jobs, and transport across Melbourne. An initial 10 Activity Centres have been identified where state-led strategic planning will be undertaken to introduce new planning controls by the end of 2024, allowing an additional 60,000 homes to be built.
The Activity Centre Division works across State Government and with local government, industry and the community to implement the Government's Activity Centre Program. The role of the Senior Project Officer, Activity Centres requires a motivated individual with demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project delivery, stakeholder management and governance in the public or private sectors.
The Senior Policy Officer - Activity Centres is responsible for supporting delivery of the program, including development of the planning tools and approach, communication and engagement activities and government approval processes. In a high-profile and collaborative environment, the Senior Policy Officer maintain relationships across State and local Government and interfaces with related Housing Statement initiatives to deliver State policy objectives.
Position Outcomes
- Strategic planning - Supports the development of appropriate tools and approvals pathways to deliver a new approach to Activity Centres.
- Stakeholder relationship building - Builds strong connections and networks across Government including with the Victorian Planning Authority and local Councils to support program delivery.
- Respected advice - Provides high quality, authoritative advice to support Government objectives and respond to emerging and/or highly complex Activity Centre related issues.
- Program management - Develops and supports effective program management and performance measures including appropriate governance, oversight and reporting.
