Job description

Expressions of interest are being sought from NSW Health staff wishing to apply to this up to seven (7) month internal opportunity. In order to be eligible to apply for this role, you must be a permanent/ongoing employee or a temporary employee with at least 12 months consecutive service. 

This is a secondment opportunity where you are required to have permission from your home agency to be released from your usual duties for the period.

About this role
This role provides strategic and operational waitlist and surgery management advice as well as leading projects supported on behalf of the Principal Policy Officer, Surgical Services. The role provides project leadership to support the achievement of NSW Health’s objectives in relation to health system purchasing and performance with specific focus on elective surgery waitlist and theatre management.

Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from$120,859 - $133,183 plus Super and annual leave loading.

What you'll be doing
The Senior Policy Officer provides information and advice to Senior Executives, staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies on elective surgery access. A key component of this role is providing subject matter expertise and leadership to the Demand and Capacity Dashboard roll out and the development of the electronic Recommendation for Admission program. The Senior Policy Officer role will also plan, manage and monitor projects assigned to the surgery team and prepare high quality written reports, briefs, correspondence as required to respond to agency or government requests.

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with.

  • Sound knowledge of surgery waitlist management in NSW public hospitals and/or theatre management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in managing broad and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated project management leadership of complex projects at a facility, LHD +/- State level.
  • The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment.
