Temporary Aboriginal Identified Senior Policy Officer

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

About this role
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.

NSW Health has a number of Aboriginal Health Workers who are trained and skilled in providing end of life and palliative care. This role provides you with opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of this workforce and provide high level advice on Aboriginal end of life and palliative care policy. In addition, you’ll be working on other end of life and palliative care projects for the broader community.  

Crown Clerk 9/10, starting salary from $120,859 - $133,183 plus p.a. (plus super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week)

What you'll be doing 

  • Provide sound information and policy advice for internal and external stakeholders on Aboriginal palliative and end of life care policy matters
  • Understand the work of the Aboriginal Health Workers working in end of life and palliative care and provide guidance for queries and support needs of this workforce 
  • Prepare briefs, correspondence and reports relating to end of life and palliative care
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and/or implementation of policies to identify issues and ensure the achievement of desired outcomes
  • Work with the palliative care policy team to manage and support other end of life and palliative care projects. 

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

  • relevant, professional experience in the area of health and social policy and/or relevant tertiary qualifications
  • substantial experience in developing, analysing and evaluating policy and other projects in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
  • strong experience and skills in health and/or social policy/program monitoring, evaluation, data management and reporting. 
  • demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to deliver on complex policy and program/project areas.
