About The Role

We have an opportunity available for a self-motivated and experienced Senior Engineer – Process Development to join Iluka and a team of highly experienced innovative people.
Reporting to the Principal – Process Development you will be responsible for developing and planning pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical test work programs for mineral sand purification projects.
The role is offered on a full-time basis on a 5:2 roster and will be based at Iluka’s Capel facility in South West WA.
Your accountabilities will include:
- Developing test work programs to progress the project and solve technical challenges
- Develop the test methodology to achieve the targeted test outcomes, adhering to the company and the mines health and safety policies, procedures and regulations
- Communicate direction, plans, and procedures to technical officers
- Develop and improve data collection, capturing, compiling and analysis
- Assist in development and design of new equipment, tests, and technology
- Perform calculations, checks and reviews of project documents, e.g. vendor specifications, data sheets, mass and energy balance
- Participate in pilot plant design and operation
- Participate in the engineering design of developed processes
About you
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or similar
- Demonstrated experience in mineral sand, extractive metallurgy or similar operation and/or design
- Effective communication skills spoken and written to various organisation levels
- Proficient in using MS office
- Basic knowledge of Process Engineering tools and software such as HSC and SYSCAD will be advantageous
- Previous laboratory and/or pilot scale test work will be regarded favourably
