Full time, 3 years fixed term Opportunity for growth within the team Base Salary $117,116 to $132,079 (HEO8) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Research and Prototyping Foundry team is looking for a Senior Process Engineer - Thin Film Deposition to manage and supervise the technical operations of the Thin Film Deposition capabilities of the Research & Prototype Foundry and provide sound, expert technical support and advice to researchers using the facility, aiding the research and providing collaborative research input for projects being undertake. Your key responsibilities will be: provide nanofabrication research support and assistance to researchers and other technical staff working in the laboratory maintain the facility workplace ensuring that the research requirements of the RPF are met effectively ensure the laboratory is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements prepare reporting and documentation for the work area provide effective leadership and management guidance and support to the staff in the facility undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.About you bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering preferred advanced analytical, problem solving and time management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities and support projects to completion demonstrated ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments and the needs of researchers excellent planning, organisation and project management skills with the ability to successfully co-ordinate and support projects to completion high level interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders, staff, users, supervisors and equipment supplier high-level verbal and written communication skills, especially in scientific communication and the preparation of reports for various audiences ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work demonstrated experience working both independently and in a team environment, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work experience in applying and abiding by WHS legislative requirements, plus safe work practice and risk assessment preparation experience in managing the day-to-day running of scientific instrumentation in a multiuser facility, including considering longer term outlooks for emerging instruments and/or technique experience in managing, supervising and mentoring staff experience in the provision of training for researchers, users and/or other staff in etching techniques. experience in Thin Film Deposition for quantum and semiconductor-related applications extensive experience with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) Evaporation and Sputtering, and Plasma-enhanced chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD).
