The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:
500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
up to six new substation sites.
This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join the team.
What will a day in this role look like:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that are aligned with the project business objectives.
- Lead the procurement team to ensure that procurement activities are carried out effectively and efficiently.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure that the company receives the best possible terms and conditions.
- Ensure that procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and regulations.

What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
- Preferred formal qualification in Procurement and/or Supply Chain & Logistics or equivalent level of learning through job experience in purchasing and supply chain management.
- Expertise in strategic and operational purchasing disciplines at senior management level, preferably with a background in large infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership, people management and communication skills to manage and mentor procurement resources and key management and stakeholder engagement.
- High degree of computer literacy including spreadsheet and database applications (SAP experience desirable).
