The Senior Product Design Manager is to create innovative, original and safe designs that will engage, entertain and educate. This role involves researching and understanding the needs of STEAM education, as well as the latest toy trends, to develop new ideas and designs. It is essential to have a good knowledge of the materials used and production techniques, as well as a flair for model design, to create innovative, fun and safe products.
Role Description/Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging products and market demands to inspire new product concepts
- Develop and implement new product designs from concept through to model development and package completion
- Assist with 3D printing & manufacturing for prototypes and product testing
- Creating drawings of your design ideas
- Understanding of testing in toys for safety and quality and usability
- Researching current trends and markets
- Presenting ideas to decision makers
- Train and mentor incoming product developers
Qualifications/Competencies:
- A degree or diploma in Product Design or a related field
- Previous experience working in the Toy Industry is ESSENTIAL
- Proven experience as a Toy Product Designer, with a successful track record of bringing innovative products to market
- Strong creativity and a passion for designing products that captivate and engage their users
- Familiarity with Toy safety regulations and standards
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous experience as a team leader or manager including coaching and training skills is preferred
- Creative mindset with the ability to think visually and translate concepts into compelling designs and models
- Proficiency in product development software and 3D printing
