About the Role
Based at our offices in Brisbane, this position reports to Team Leader Production Engineering – Cooper Surface and is responsible for optimising Santos’ assets to economically produce every hydrocarbon molecule safely, whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose of the role is to:
- Maximise satellite capacity, optimise production and minimise production shortfall from lease edge to satellite export.
- Identify network pressure trends to inform a base well reinstatement program, wellhead screw compressor relocation program and debottlenecking program to maximise asset production rate and reserve.
- Drive improvement opportunities (risk, cost, production and emissions).
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Deliver a series of base reinstatement well program to re-activate long-term shut-in wells and flowlines.
- Maximise production for the asset through surveillance of satellite/flowline performance and optimisation, recommending remediation plans.
- Drive the ‘gas scavenger mindset’ within the team – Produce every molecule.
- Work collaboratively with Development, Reservoir, Operations and support functions to ensure projects are scoped and executed as per plan, and backout mitigation maximised
- Identify rate enhancement opportunities and economic projects to maximise productivity, reduce cost and reduce emissions.
- Perform economics analysis to justify optimisation projects
- Present the business case and performance lookback of projects to the joint venture partners
- Assist junior engineers to optimise and trouble shoot performance issues and understand operating strategies to help develop team competencies.
This is a full time, office-based role where site visits to the Cooper Basin will be required on an ad hoc basis. It is a unique and rewarding role in which the successful candidate will be in charge of production enhancement and production gain, with full visibility of the impact their work has!
About You
Holding relevant Mechanical and/or Chemical Engineering qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess significant work/industry experience in subsurface Production Engineering covering Compressor operations and surveillance, network flowline enhancement, production enhancement, risk management and project management. In addition, you will also possess demonstrable leadership skills along with a working knowledge of ValNav, GAP and Nodal analysis.
As this is an Optimisation Engineer focused role, it will suit candidates with a Process or Petroleum Engineering background, as well as those possessing both a collaborative and strategic approach. We’re seeking a dedicated team player who has a proven proactive and flexible approach along with strong communication skills. You will demonstrate resilience, as well as the ability to mentor junior team members.
