We believe success and value are driven by real teams where everyone has a role to play.About the role:With a significant pipeline of opportunities identified across the Transport and Technology sectors, UGL are seeking to appoint an experienced Snr Project Accountant working in the major projects space based in Melbourne:The primary purpose of the Snr Project Accountant is to business partner in all financial matters, providing information and advice to maximise the financial performance of the project.Some of the key responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports for the project as required in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Provide the Finance Manager with financial assessments and information with which to ensure planning and budgeting activities meet Contract goals.
- Accountable for ensuring the month end process is run in an efficient and timely manner, complying with time schedules as per set deadlines. Active hands on participation to ensure business unit meets all deadlines.
- Prepare monthly project finance reports, including forecast to complete, explanations of variances to budgets and previous forecasts.
- Review and analyse all actual costs/expenses against standard costs, identifying and investigating any discrepancies
- To ensure accounting and cost controls are in place and effective.
- Ensure accounting standards and policies are consistent and the business unit operates effective financial controls.
- CA or CPA qualification plus a relevant commercial/ finance/ business degree from an accredited institute preferred.
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience on large scale project/s
- Experience with SAP is desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks and simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
