About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.
About the opportunity
As the Senior Project Engineer you will oversee and ensure the successful delivery of nominated projects. This involves managing all technical aspects, coordinating with the delivery contractor and internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, design development and delivery of the Albury to Parkes Enhancement projects in accordance with Inland Rail's requirements.
- Take a lead role in working with the Design & Engineering Team to address technical queries, compliance and value for money outcomes.
- Manage the inputs of Project Engineer's in the support of the Albury to Parkes Enhancement Contractor's activities.
- Review and develop scope, program, cost, and safety inputs for work packages related to the Contractor's activities and validate their implementation.
- Contribute to project and Program safety requirements and initiatives, and act in a safe manner befitting the safety requirements and culture.
- Regularly report on the Contractor's safety performance and site observations.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of Inland Rail projects in accordance with ARTC & Inland Rail's standards on time and within budget allocations.
- Manage the resolution of site related construction and engineering issues as they relate to compliance and contract performance including reporting on scope deviations and assessing actual variation impacts.
- Liaise with stakeholders (internal/external) on various interface, contractual, technical and delivery matters.
- Provide quantitative and qualitative reports regarding the status and performance of components of the Inland Rail projects including preparing various technical and evaluation reports (project performance, technical evaluations, etc.)
About you
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications.
- Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil, structures and/or signalling.
- Knowledge of or an awareness of work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
- Experience in the administration, management and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrable ability to work in an organised, well ordered manner.
- Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen.
- Driver's Licence - Class C
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Project experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Sound knowledge of railway systems - Australian Standards for track infrastructure including the railway National Code of Practice.
