About the role
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to develop, lead, and oversee construction development project(s). From initiation to hand over and commissioning, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for all areas of financial management and program management from development through to delivery. A Senior Project Manager will manage, mentor and guide their team as well as demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management.
Projects are typically $15m-$100m, of a civil engineering nature (aviation pavements, road infrastructure and infrastructure supporting aviation operations) or building nature (Airport terminal building upgrades, expansions, modifications) with Project Management responsibilities spanning project initiation, stakeholder engagement, design phases, procurement, delivery and commissioning. The Senior Project Manager may lead a single large project or multiple smaller projects.
You’ll have the opportunity to
- Provide leadership and direction and oversee the activities of Project teams.
- Responsible for on time delivery of high profile, complex and technically challenging projects to ensure recovery commences as per corporate plan
- Lead the management of the necessary contract administration tasks during feasibility, design and construction activities to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.
- Implement the works with due consideration to stakeholder requirements, capital projects delivery standards and processes to ensure quality delivery with best practices.
- Review and prepare consultant briefs; including agreed project scope; tentative program; budget etc.
- Lead the liaison, design and approval process and participate in meetings with the tenant or developer necessary to achieve final working drawings that meet SYD’s requirements.
About you and your background
To be successful in this role you will thrive working in a dynamic, complex, and fast paced environment. You are flexible and adaptable, willing to roll up your sleeves and do what’s necessary to deliver a world class customer experience. This will be teamed with tertiary qualifications in Construction Management combined with at least 10 years industry experience in the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure projects. You have demonstrated experience managing multi-functional projects both financially and leading a team of Project Managers with extensive knowledge of project management, procurement processes, contract management principle and methodologies. You have a commercial mindset and a work ethic built with resilience, a tenacity to lead from the front whilst remaining agile to adapt to the dynamic nature of the Airport and the ability to balance hands on tactical service delivery whilst thinking and acting strategically.
