Our client is the largest integrated construction materials company in Australia, producing and selling a broad range of construction materials, including quarry products, cement, concrete, asphalt and recycled materials. Employing circa 9,100 employees and contractors nationally, their extensive footprint includes some 356 operating sites nationally.
As the Senior Project Manager – Infrastructure you will take on this project mid flight, (construction of a cement plant) and lead the project delivery functions through to successful commissioning, which includes the closing out of all phases. The site is based in Geelong and the role is reporting to the Head of Infrastructure. You will enjoy full accountability for the commissioning of this project, including managing the project’s budget, forecasts and actual spend, along with the delivery of best practise standards including environmental compliance. Today they are eager to identify the right Snr Project Manager, Infrastructure to join their team.
What you will bring to the role
- Proven experience in project management of prized asset infrastructure projects (complex projects up to a min of circa $10m), predominantly brownfield
- Demonstrated hands on experience leading projects and also leading Project Managers.
- Significant experience with forecasting and tracking of project expenditures.
- Experience communicating with senior management/steering committee on group activity and project status.
- PM and Mechanical Engineering experience in the construction of facilities, specifically around material processing facilities
- Experience in town planning requirements and process
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (ideally Mechanical, however Civil also works if you can demonstrate PM experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams)
- Working knowledge of project management principles
- Ideally a working knowledge of regulatory approvals pathways as they relate to infrastructure projects in VIC
- A strong track record in safety and Project Management delivery, ideally industrial projects such as processing facilities &/or within the mining sector.
- Proven ability to maintain a detailed line of sight over schedules, budgets and build to ensure the projects are each delivered on time and on budget
- Proven ability to scope, prioritise and plan projects
- Monitor and assist in managing the delivery of vendors and subcontractor’s procurement items and services
- Experience communicating with senior management on project status
- Demonstrated strategic thinking & problem-solving skills
- Confident stakeholder engagement and management experience at all levels across the wider organisation
- Manage the commissioning and hand over of projects to the operating team of a significant infrastructure project – ensuring the successful closing out of all phases
- Manage asset project handover including operational and environmental compliance for the assets with all regulatory and best practise requirements, pollution abatement notices, Council notices etc
- Lead projects and people in line with their Leadership Model, exemplifying their values-based high-performance culture
- Leverage their organisational Toolkit to increase sustainability alignment and promote brand awareness and equity to all groups including employees, customers, community and shareholders
- Manage, including driving effective and efficient communication between project teams, contractors and suppliers and other external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met
- Obtain appropriate licenses and approvals from relevant authorities for execution of project
- Potentially direct and assist procurement in the development of tender requests for relevant activities to ensure the highest possible standard for tender submission, minimising costs and maximizing scope activity
- Establish, monitor and review project life cycles to ensure the delivery of project on time and budget
- $250k - $300k pa (Min 12 month Fixed Term Project)
