About the role Join us as a Senior Protection Engineer, where you will provide leadership in diverse engineering activities in the dynamic Protection and Earthing Department. The role will embrace the delivery of operational outcomes, and innovation, drive process improvement, and collaborate with fellow experts to bring fresh ideas to the table. The successful candidate will have the expertise as a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) to empower effective delivery design and calculations for electrical network protection to impact our department's objectives significantly. The Senior Protection Engineer will provide technical supervision and advise stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legislation and Energy Queensland policies. The role requires dedication to achieve department goals efficiently, utilise resources and implement innovative work methods.The role will analyse data, provide technical direction, and mentor team members, fostering growth to shape a sustainable energy future and unlock the team's true potential. About you The ideal candidate for this role shall hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, qualifying for membership in the Institution of Engineers Australia Professional Engineering category. You are also a registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ); desirable qualifications include postgraduate degrees in related engineering or IT fields and business, management, or leadership. You should have demonstrated experience developing team members through supervision, coaching, and mentoring and will possess expert knowledge of engineering calculations and analysis techniques for Protection Systems. You have strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills to review and approve recommendations, engineering reports, and technical documentation. You are results-driven and focused on process efficiency and future systems integration. Additionally, you have experience in investigating and recommending new technologies and systems. You exhibit strong leadership capabilities, promoting change, innovation, and improved performance and are skilled at collaboration to build relationships and motivate others. Your commitment to personal capability and development towards continuous learning will benefit team colleagues and the wider team.
