The role
Contributes to state-wide components of the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a range of broad multi-strategy, multi-sector health promotion programs and interventions in line with relevant national, state and department policy and planning directions.
The successful person
As our Senior Public Health Officer, you will possess the following skills, experience and qualification/s:
- Must hold at least a tertiary degree in Public Health, environmental health or other relevant health discipline.
- Demonstrated high level ability to critically analyse information and data and provide evidence-based advice to colleagues, senior management, and other stakeholders on a range of preventive health issues.
- Demonstrated high level planning and project management skills, including experience in the coordination, development, implementation and evaluation of state-wide Public Health interventions.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a high performing team, communicate confidently to a range of internal and external audiences and undertake effective negotiation and consultation processes.
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated flexibility in approach to work and working environment and willingness to participate in cross program initiatives to address crucial issues as requirement by management.

The Prevention Strategy Branch (PSB) within QPHaSS provides expertise, leadership and innovation to improve policy, systems, research, programs and services to encourage behaviours and create environments that are supportive of health.
PSB is responsible for developing policy and strategy, providing expert advice, developing legislative reform proposals, undertaking national and intra-state collaborations, facilitating sector development, designing and overseeing evaluation, and undertaking health surveillance for achieving the goal and targets of the Prevention Strategic Framework 2017 to 2026.
