Form of workTownsville Hospital and Health Service is the Public Healthcare provider for more than 250,000 people across a geographic area of 150,000km2, delivering a comprehensive range of services across 21 facilities, from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.
The opportunity
This position provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) including vaccination support services. Within that, this role will help establish models to promote community awareness and care in childhood skin health; and primary and primordial prevention of Group A streptococcus infections and rheumatic fever in First Nations people, including Palm Island.
The position will also work with our Indigenous Immunisation Outreach Service (‘Boots on the Ground'). The team finds and updates immunizations of vulnerable children, often at home. These children have fallen behind or are unvaccinated due to a variety of complex factors and may have lost connection to primary care.
This role will collaborate effectively and develop and maintain productive working relationships and partnerships with first nations communities, and internal and external stakeholders to meet specified outcomes.
Role requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification, AHPRA registration and current practising certificate.
- Authorisation as an Immunisation Program Nurse to practice under the provisions of the Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996.
- Postgraduate qualifications, or working towards same, would be highly desirable.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- C Class Drivers Licence.
- Travel may be required.
Generous remuneration package value up to $132,289 p.a.comprising:
- Salary rates between $4138.10 and $4431.10 p.f. (NG6-1)
