Company Description:
One of Australia’s leading Federal Government Departments is seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to work on the National Project to assist in the development of enhanced capability to improve operational delivery of the public. The role will be part of a team that uses Agile methods and test-driven development.
Position - Senior Python Developer
Employment Type - Contract
Duration- Minimum 12 month (possible extension 6 month)
Job location - CBD, Melbourne
Work - Hybrid (2/3 Work from office)
CANDIDATE SHOULD BE AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN
Role and Responsibility
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in developing Python applications for a Linux environment (Redhat preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with scientific python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy and Pandas
- Demonstrated experience with Python 3 and Python 2.7, and a willingness to work with Python 2.7
- Understanding science requirements and/or complex systems and implementing them in Python
- Demonstrated ability to reimplement complex code from C++ to Python is desired by not essential.
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation of complex Python code at scale within performance and memory constraints
- Experience in Test driven development
- Demonstrated experience with modern collaborative software development practices including:
- Automated testing and deployment,
- Version control (Git preferred),
- code reviews
- agile methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and a proven record of working efficiently both independently and as part of a small team.
