Midland is one of our busiest hospitals, with demand for public services consistently increasing every year, making it a dynamic and fast-paced environment to work in. A lot of opportunities to expand and enhance your clinical or leadership skills are available. We are currently recruiting Senior Emergency Registrars to join the team on a full time, fixed term basis commencing February or August 2024. Contracts can be offered for 6 - 12 months. Part time or job share will also be considered. The Position Provide clinical supervision and teaching to Registrar, Resident Medical Officers, Interns and Medical StudentsTreats Emergency Department (ED) patients carrying out procedures within capabilities and experience.Ensures a relevant history and physical examination have been conducted on each patient and ensures all patient management documentation is completed.Works with hospital nursing staff to facilitate patient management including completing pathology requests, booking radiology and other procedures and checks investigation results and follows-up abnormal results.Commit to a team approach in the delivery of care, working closely with nursing staff, allied health professions, members of pastoral care services, and other clinicians both onsite and offsite.Communicates/liaises with General Practitioners, Consultants and Specialists as appropriate.Provide senior supervision within the department as part of team-based care model.Develop and refine skills in team leadership.Develop skills and experience working at FACEM level.Engage in non-clinical portfolios.Liaises with on-call consultants regarding departmental concerns.Participates in after-hours and weekend rosters.Training Opportunities: Accredited for 36 months ACEM training (Tier 1 site)Accredited for Training Stage 4 of ACEM training program.Accredited for 6-month (1.0 FTE) ACEM Medical Education/Simulation Education Special Skills PostPaediatric logbook accredited.Weekly one-on-one bedside ultrasound teaching by a certified Sonographer to gain skills in AAA and eFAST as well as fulfil CCPU requirements.BeFACEM - FACEM "finishing school" style education program focusing on supporting Senior Registrars fulfil Training Stage 4 requirements and acquiring the leadership skills to transition into a capable junior FACEM.You will be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and intending to undertake Australasian College of Emergency Medicine Fellowship exams within six months of starting the role.
