Position Overview
The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated professionals at our client's esteemed organisation, playing a crucial role as an Emergency Medicine Registrar. You will have the remarkable chance to manage a broad and fascinating case-mix, offering pivotal support in a variety of sectors, including acute, elective, and regional healthcare.
The ED has 2 resus bays, 8 acute cubicles, 4 fast track cubicles as well as integrated computerised work management and pathology / radiology systems. There is also an ED Short Stay Unit. There is an expanding cohort (currently ten) of committed locally resident FACEMs, whose sub-specialty professional interests include teaching/simulation, ultrasound and research. There is a broad and interesting case mix, which includes all categories of adult and paediatric cases, medical and surgical. Paediatrics make up approximately 20% of presentations. Major trauma is not uncommon.
The roster comprises five doctors per shift (including the FACEM) during the day and two doctors overnight with FACEM on-call so there is excellent supervision and apprentice-style learning. The registrar has a segregated five hours of formal education per week. The ED Department is accredited for 24 months of Emergency Medicine Training with ACEM.
Applicants interested in Service Registrar position will need to have previous Emergency Medicine experience. If you are interested in a Trainee positions you must be registered with the Australian Medical Board and registered as a trainee with the Australian College for Emergency Medicine.
