The Department employsapproximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisonsand fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Duties
The Senior RehabilitationClinician/Psychologist/Social Worker will provide a range ofeffective scientifically based clinical and forensic services toprisoners and offenders within DCS. The position will providetherapeutic interventions focused on offending behaviours and onneeds that contribute to criminal offending; conduct comprehensiveassessments including risk and needs rating assessments; and whereappropriate, provide crisis intervention, and specialisedindividual and/or group interventions in response to referrals fromwithin DCS.This position of SeniorRehabilitation Clinician/Psychologist/Social Worker is responsiblefor providing comprehensive assessments and specialistinterventions to prisoners and offenders in prisons and acrossCommunity Correctional Centres, in particular 'adult' and 'child'sex offenders and violent offenders, and contributing to the safemanagement, wellbeing, and mental health of offenders.
Due to theover-representation of Aboriginal prisoners within the Departmentfor Correctional Services(DCS), there is an expectation that theclient workload will include a significant number of Aboriginalprisoners.
SpecialConditions
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
- A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- The role requires considerable intra-state travel, with occasional interstate travel, involving visits to prisons and community corrections centres, and frequent overnight absences.
Requirements
AHP3(Senior Rehabilitation Psychologist):
- Essential: An undergraduate or post-graduate level qualification in psychology and full registration as Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
AHP3(Senior Rehabilitation Social Worker):
- Essential: A degree level qualification in Social Work leading to eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO3(Senior Rehabilitation Clinician):
- Essential: Appropriate degree level tertiary qualifications in community services, sociology, criminology, justice, correctional practice, social sciences, human services, health or related field.
