Salaryare looking for a Senior Research Officer to join the team! This maximum term (1 year), full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.Mater Research is a recognised leader in medical research. Our bench to bedside philosophy sees us working across Mater Health's hospitals and health services, The University of Queensland, and the world-class Translational Research Institute (TRI).We are committed to working closely with Mater Health, Mater Education and our growing network of partners and collaborators to turn scientific discovery into the best possible treatment, care, and outcomes for patients and our broader community.Salary: $98,658 - $106,057 plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900What you'll be doingThe Research Officer or Senior Research Officer is expected to critically evaluate data and literature, design and perform experiments to discover and functionally validate new targets in aggressive forms of breast and ovarian cancer.As a part of this project patients derived organoid cocultures will be set up, synthetic lethal drug/CRISPR screens will be performed followed by testing in vivo in patient-derived xenograft models.For more information specific to the role, please view the PD here -About youYou will have a PhD submitted in related field of Science. You will also meet the below criteria:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- In depth knowledge of cancer cell and molecular biology, drug target validation and testing in animal models, CRISPR screens, genetic barcoding of cells, patient-derived organoid generation and co-culturing with other cells in tumour microenvironment
- Ability to present complex data and concepts at laboratory meetings.
- High level skills in molecular Biology and statistics.
- Handling human samples and establishing organoid co-cultures, CRISPR Screen, and single cell analysis
- Experience in presenting at major national meetings.
- Experience in testing of drugs in in vivo preclinical models.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills to negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of staff and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work demands meet deadlines and balance competing tasks.
- Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills, Knowledge of data management systems.
