The Research and Evaluation (R&E) unit guides, coordinates, and undertakes research and evaluation activities across the QPS to develop new knowledge that informs the evidence base for improved organisational decision-making and service delivery.
We also provide research methodology advice and support to QPS members and the QPS Research Committee and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, universities, and research institutes.

The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Evaluate QPS programs and initiatives and consult with other areas of the QPS on evaluation practices, methods, and approaches.
- Monitor and review policing practices, strategies and initiatives at state, national and international levels and provide advice on their efficiency, effectiveness, and applicability to the QPS.
- Undertake research into external and internal issues affecting the QPS.
- Provide well-researched, soundly based, and defensible advice to senior management.
- Develop and maintain effective networks and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to deliver positive outcomes for the QPS.
- Provide assistance to other areas of the Service as required.

Qualification:
- While there are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, possession of a relevant degree level qualification with a significant focus on research and/or evaluation would be considered favourably.
Other:
- Some inter and intrastate travel may be required for short periods.
