The Opportunity
At UnitingCare Queensland we care for and support children, young people and their families across Queensland to live safe, healthy and productive lives through the delivery of services that are flexible and responsive to their individual needs. UnitingCare Queensland is taking expressions of interest from passionate, emotionally intelligent, creative, and resilient Senior Residential Care Practitioners to join our Kingaroy Out of Home Care team as Part Time worker.

The focus of this Program is to provide support to children with to extreme needs, by encouraging them to:
- Feel a strong sense of identity and belonging through development of social and interpersonal skills
- Build positive and trusting connections with family, friends and community through relationship based experiences and consistent and caring responses
- Have access to opportunities for learning and development to meet their individual needs.
- Create healthy lifestyle choices and access to additional external support services for physical, mental and emotional support and promote positive life outcomes.
In addition to the above your role will also include but not be limited to:
- Maintaining a Clean and Safe home environment
- Managing Day to Day tasks within the context of a Residential Care home environment
- Completing verbal and written reports as per Program policies and procedures
- Have flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and sleep over shifts
What you'll need
To be successful in this role you will ideally have a strong understanding of the child protection system and more specifically previous exposure to a residential or out of home care environment. In addition you will have a strong therapeutic background with a well-developed understanding of C.A.R.E principles and/or a trauma informed framework of practice.
Supplementing the above you will require the following qualifications and certificates:
- A minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or Cert IV in Human Services, Community Services, Youth Services or related field
- Completed the Hope and Healing Framework Foundations Training or be willing to undertake this
- Current Blue Card - Working with Children
- A Qld Driver Licence
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Willingness to undergo LCS screening check

Selection Criteria
Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of developmental, trauma and attachment theories as applied to children and young people. Essential: Demonstrated ability to develop positive and appropriate relationships with children/young people who have experienced trauma and to place the best interests of the child at the centre of all interactions and activities. Essential: Demonstrated ability to work with young people and lead staff to develop appropriate and useful routines, structures, expectations and activities for the individual young people in accordance with the principles of the CARE framework.
Essential: Understanding of and/or willingness to work within the principles of the CARE framework; these being,
- Developmentally focused
- Family involved
- Relationship based
- Competence centered
- Trauma informed
- Ecologically oriented
Essential: Demonstrated experience in working in partnership with families of children in care, key stakeholders including officers of the Department of Child Safety. Essential: Demonstrated understanding of the significance of child protection matters in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Essential: Demonstrated ability to be a senior participant in the staff team as well as the capacity to work autonomously.
Essential: Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills. Essential: Commitment to working within the beliefs, mission and values of UnitingCare Community and adhering to policies and organsiational requirements and processes.
