This is an opportunity to work as a member of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) Sexual Assault Service. Flexible work opportunities are available.

Allied Health Professional (Level 3): $54.77 - $56.54

Where you'll be working
The PARVAN Service is located in the Community Health Centre on the Royal North Shore Hospital Campus.

What you'll be doing

The Northern Sydney Sexual Assault Service provides an integrated tertiary level overall response to people who have experienced or are affected by Sexual Assault and children under the age of ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours.  The Sexual Assault Counsellor is responsible for the provision of integrated counselling and case management services to children, young persons and adults who are victims of Sexual Assault and their non-offending family members, including the provision of crisis counselling & support and facilitation of forensic/medical services as required as well as services to children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist who has completed 9 years of service as a minimum OR with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters, Doctorate, or PhD degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent relevant to the role OR tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and post graduate experience at a minimum of level 2 or above. Applicants must be Female – Under Section 31 (2) (h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  3. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of crisis and longer term counselling interventions to children, young people and/or adults who have experienced Sexual Assault and other forms of violence, abuse and neglect, including children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours.
  4. Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interagency environment using strong advocacy, negotiation and problem solving skills to build networks with key stakeholders and plan, deliver and coordinate patient care.
  6. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; independently problem-solve and apply advanced reasoning and professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  7. Extensive post graduate experience in crisis intervention, client centred trauma informed advocacy and the delivery of trauma model of counselling from within a feminist framework.
  8. Ability to participate in the 24hr PARVAN On Call Service and current unrestricted NSW Driver's License and willingness to provide services at different locations within NSLHD.
