Job description

Norco have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator to join the team at our newly rebuilt ice cream manufacturing site at Lismore!

The Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator is primarily responsible for implementing Norco’s quality strategy at our Lismore site, to ensure that our products are safe, defect free and manufactured to specification. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the site’s laboratory is operating efficiently and effectively and meets Norco and applicable external standards.

In this role, you will report to Norco’s Quality Assurance Manager, and will also work closely with the Norco Lismore site leadership team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Implement and lead the quality strategy for the Lismore site.
  • Maintain an effective Quality Management System for site operations that satisfies all applicable standards.
  • Manage day to day operations of the laboratory.
  • Lead recruitment and training, performance management, absence management and reward and recognition for your team.
  • Lead HACCP revisions and ensure compliance with the site HACCP plans.
  • Complete regular GMP audits of the factory and participate in scheduled internal audits of the site.
  • Hold/release finished product.
  • Review all microbiological and chemical results and action all adverse or erroneous test results.
  • Coordinate second level examinations on out of spec products and ensure corrective actions are completed by the agreed time.
  • Coordinate raw material/packaging inspections and release.
  • Coordinate sensory evaluation panel for finished products.
  • Coordinate external testing program.
  • Coordinate coliform and listeria environmental monitoring program.
  • Lead and participate in external accreditation audits.
  • Lead and drive initiatives such as staff training, internal auditing and root cause analysis that deliver improvements to the site’s quality measures and overall quality standards.
  • Lead by example and coach others to create a work culture in line with our Code of Conduct and values.

Selection Criteria:

  • Degree in Science (Microbiology/Chemistry) or equivalent
  • Food Laboratory experience required, dairy experience highly advantageous
  • Experience leading a team and coaching others
  • Strong understanding of HACCP and GMP principles
  • Knowledge in factory hygiene and food microbiology
  • Demonstrated compliance to Quality / Safety standards, procedures and practices
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A safety first mindset
  • Willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable
