Remuneration: AHP2 ($86,950 - $100,729 p.a.) / PO2 ($86,950 - $96,223 p.a.) +11% Superannuation
The Department for Child Protection is seeking two Senior Social Workers or a Senior Placement Officersto join the Placement Services team on a full-time ongoing basis.
This role is responsible for:
- Receiving placement requests and ensuring quality of information in accordance with Departmental and Social Work practice principles and referring these requests to the appropriate government and non-government partners.
- Providing placement consultation for DCP Office workers and non-government agency staff to facilitate the placement of children and young people into alternative care.
- Undertaking professional assessment and review of placement requests submitted by DCP Offices for referral to non-government partners to seek appropriate care options for children and young people.
- Providing consultation, advice and training to DCP staff, Government and non-government agencies and workers.
About You
We are looking for an influential individual with the ability to analyse problems and initiate constructive discussion.
To be successful in this role, you will have knowledge of social work legislative framework including acts, regulations, policies and procedures that guide social work practice.
You will also have the ability to identify areas where support is required and discuss situations or concerns with key stakeholders.
If you have the ability to provide sound and practical advice on social work matters and support and guidance to team members in order to develop and improve team performance and communication, then this may be the role for you.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
