About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an great opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Red Ochre Program based at Canberra - ACT, reporting to the DFMS Project Engineering Manager.

As a Senior Software Engineer within the DFMS project, the incumbent will:
- Be a recognised software specialist in a specific software domain, technology, or methodology and will utilise those skills in the development of software systems
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to more junior members of the project team and will have significant responsibility for ensuring the technical integrity and quality of the software system
- Be accountable for the design and development of software systems in accordance with the contractual and company requirements
- Provide technical leadership for all relevant Software Engineering activities conducted by the DFMS software team
- Champion the use of 'Best Practice' Software Engineering processes and methods across the team
- Provide an interface between the relevant Software Engineering teams and BAE Systems Management and Customer representatives
- Lead the identification and resolution of technical issues associated with the execution of Software Engineering activities across the team
- Estimate software activities to be undertaken on the project
- Provide subject matter expert advice to the project team
- Provide mentoring to the project's junior Software Engineers
- Strong experience in the development of software products using relevant Software Engineering technologies
- A strong understanding of the Software Development lifecycle.
- Understanding and experience with Agile development.
- Strong experience in developing software using the following technologies: C++, C#, SQL Server, Windows & Atlassian environment
- Ability to ensure the technical integrity and quality of software products
- Ability and willingness to perform work at customer sites in support of the systems and software within the DFMS, including the provision of out of hours on-call and call-out support on a rostered basis.
- Hold an Australian defence security clearance at a level of TOP SECRET NEGAVTIVE VETTING (NV2)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT
