The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be doing hands-on coding and be responsible for shaping the technical evolution of this system by contributing to end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery across different projects. You'll utilise advanced knowledge of API design principles and best practices to achieve business outcomes, draw on core technology and domain knowledge to lead the design, enhancement and maintenance of a technology solution. You'll also be invited to join our regular engineering guilds to provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior members of the team.
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality APIs that meet performance and scalability requirements. Including optimizing APIs for speed, efficiency and troubleshooting performance issues.
Have experience as an API Engineer or a similar role. Displaying in-depth knowledge of API design principles and best practices.
Are proficient with API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
Can participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.
Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills. Being willing to share knowledge within the team, provide technical support and guidance to other teams using the APIs.
Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in API development.
Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Development Methodologies: .NET Framework, .NET Core, Kafka, REST APIs; Micro services experience is advantageous but is not compulsory.
Frontend Technologies: HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Proficient in one of the JS frameworks - either Angular or React.
Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance testing experience.
Programming Languages: C# with good knowledge of OOPS concepts and design patterns.
CI/CD: Any Git tool for source control. Build tools such as TeamCity or Jenkins and experience with deployment tooling like Octopus or similar.
Databases: Either of the relational databases like MSSQL / Oracle. Experience with any No-SQL database such as MongoDB is good to have.
Cloud: Hands on experience with AWS is preferred. Containerization with Docker, Kubernetes is highly advantageous.
Monitoring: Familiarization with Splunk or a similar monitoring tool. Any familiarity with performance tooling like AppDynamics is good to have.
