About CASA

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is a government body that regulates aviation safety in Australia.

We license pilots, register aircraft, oversee aviation safety and promote safety awareness. We also make sure that the aviation community and the public use and administer Australian airspace safely.

In July 1995, we were established as an independent statutory authority. We operate within a legislative framework made up of acts, regulations, associated legislative instruments and guidance material.

The Division

National Operations and Standards Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of the civil aviation safety regulatory scheme, associated guidance and supporting materials.  This includes the consideration of policy initiatives and engaging with stakeholders on international standards and recommended practices and their associated documents. The range of responsibilities includes personnel licensing, flight operations, airworthiness, air navigation, airspace, aerodromes, and remotely piloted aircraft systems. The Division is also responsible for provision of regulatory services and surveillance, including aircraft certification and production, simulator certification, air navigation services and airspace.

The Opportunity

The Senior Standards Officer, Flight Crew Licensing Standards (SSO FCLS) is an exciting new position that covers a range of rapidly evolving topics including but not limited to conventional and non-conventional Crew Licensing, training and traffic integration requirements for emerging technologies, including powered lift and certified RPAS. This position offers a wide range of challenging complex activities requiring the application of the candidate’s knowledge and experience.
