About the Role
A rare opportunity has become available to join the City’s Urban Design & Strategic Projects team as a Senior Strategic Planner. Reporting to the Coordinator Strategic Planning this role is responsible for:
- Preparing a range of strategic planning documents from inception to completion.
- Providing high quality professional advice, recommendations and reports on strategic planning matters.
- Leading community engagement campaigns and running community workshops.
- Managing the engagement of external providers, including the preparation of consultant briefs and working with consultants through the project lifecycle.
- Contributing towards the preparation and implementation of the City’s strategies relating to strategic planning, place planning, landscape architecture and sustainability.
- Presenting matters at closed-door meetings with Council Members.
- Providing mentoring and training to Strategic Planners.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a high performing candidate who excels in innovative problem solving, managing projects to tight deadlines, presenting to key stakeholders, and working in a collaborative, fast paced team environment.
The candidate requires extensive experience in the preparation of local planning policies, local planning schemes and strategic plans under the Western Australian planning framework. The successful candidate would also demonstrate an excellent ability to interpret and apply legislation. Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline are essen
