Form of workSwettenham Stud is a leading and renowned thoroughbred stud located at Nagambie Victoria and is dedicated to the breeding, rearing and development of thoroughbreds. Swettenham Stud has an opportunity for employment as a Senior Stud Hand who will be a crucial team member as we head into the 2024 breeding season. This role will suit someone who is looking for progression in the breeding industry. NO YEARLING PREP required, Family accommodation can be provided.
The position for Senior Stud Hand will include the following duties but not limited to:
- Reporting of any injuries or illness to Stud Manager
- Ability to liaise with Senior Management on a daily basis
- Day to day preparation and dispersing of feed regimes to horses
- Handling and grooming of young stock and mares
- Assisting with management of horses whilst attended by veterinarians & farriers
- Perform drenching, vaccinations and veterinary treatments as instructed
- Cleaning and mucking out of horse stables/yards
- Rotating Roster
- Other duties as required
