In this specialist Linux role, you will be very hands on (at least initially) working out of Newcastle.

What you’ll be doing:
In this hybrid role based out of Newcastle, you will lead and mentor a small team of System Administrators and DevOps Engineers based mostly remote in Australia. Your new role will include designing, implementing, and managing the hosting environment which includes Linux based systems, Kubernetes, and other opensource products. You will be tasked with overseeing and configuring network systems including switches, routers, and firewalls from Cisco and Dell.
You will collaborate closely with DevOps engineers and assist in adopting scrum methodologies to align infrastructure projects with business objectives. In addition to this, you will manage, maintain, and performance tune databases as well as supporting the efficient running of applications and deployments of Java and .NET Core applications.
Your role will entail 24x7x365 monitoring and support of production infrastructure and data center operations with a current 99.99% uptime.
Experience required:
You will have at least 5 years of experience with Linux where you have worked as a Systems Administrator/ Engineer. You are a strong leader with previous experience leading, mentoring, and growing teams.
You will have strong knowledge of Cisco and Dell Technologies and have previous experience with database management and implementing secure and scalable cloud solutions, ideally with AWS or Azure.
You will be based within driving distance of Newcastle or willing to relocate to the area as this is a hybrid position where you would need to be in the office a couple of days a week.
Again, Linux experience is a must in this role. Bonus points if you have experience in network management and open-source environments.
