About You

You are a skilled electronics Technical Officer with expertise in designing, programming, fabricating, operating and maintaining specialist electronic equipment. You communicate with clarity, displaying conviction and resilience, work collaboratively and motivate others and mobilising influence. You can understand and implement relevant health and safety requirements and activities and ensure that risk controls and injury management programs are effective for the activities being undertaken.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager: Technical Services (Electrical, Electronics and IT), you will be responsible for applying your electronic expertise across a broad range of technical, advisory and supervisory duties to support STEM’s teaching, research and commercial activities within a workshop setting. You will occasionally provide support to projects within the Future Industries Institute, as well as look after STEM Aviation’s Boeing and Airbus like flight simulators.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Qualifications in electronic/electrical engineering or a relevant discipline and extensive relevant work experience in an engineering environment
  • Expert knowledge one or more of the following areas: electronics, embedded systems, mechatronics, industrial control systems, or electrical power systems
  • Analytical skills appropriate to effective problem solving and support for a diverse group of users
  • Diagnostic skills with demonstrated experience in applying theoretical knowledge to conceptual design and ability to communicate complex technical matters
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practice WHS principles and procedures
