Senior Test Analyst

Our Platform team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Test Analyst. Reporting directly to our Head of Development and Infrastructure, this role plays a critical role in ensuring that testing activities are well-planned, executed efficiently, and aligned with development and release goals. Key responsibilities include managing end-to-end testing processes, identifying automation opportunities and driving continuous improvement in testing practices for optimal efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Executing and owning end-to-end testing and quality assurance functions, managing the testing activities (technical and user-related), coordinating with stakeholders, and driving quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Test planning and strategy to understand project requirements, define testing objectives and create comprehensive test plans are important.
• Test design and execution to develop and work through test scenarios, tests cases and test scripts. This will involve collaboration with SMEs and product owners to understand software functionality and define test cases. Test cases should cover all critical paths, edge cases and business scenarios through extensive test coverage.
• Performing manual and automated tests, executing tests, and reporting results and manage defects. Work through issues and work closely with developers and stakeholders to track, prioritise, and resolve them. They may also assist in root cause analysis and provide recommendations for defect prevention.
• Identify opportunities for test automation and collaborate with the development and technology team to maximise automation coverage, efficiency, and reliability.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement within the testing team and the broader software development lifecycle and identify opportunities to enhance testing practices, tools, and methodologies. Participate in quality assurance process reviews, provide feedback, and implement improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Experience Required

• Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or equivalent.
• Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in software development. Experience working in financial services or using similar technologies is highly regarded.
• Technical skills: 
  • ISTQB certified professional or other relevant certifications in software testing or quality assurance.
  • A strong understanding of programming languages, frameworks, and technologies relevant to the project. At Mason Stevens we use;

    • Microsoft SQL server development (i.e.TSQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, functions)

  • Knowledge of the following are important: 
    • Microsoft SQL server management (i.e. configuration, replication, security, backups)
    • Microsoft SQL server performance tuning (analysis, design and implementation)
    • Microsoft SQL analysis services (SSAS) / Power BI and Microsoft SQL server reporting services (SSRS)
    • Microsoft SQL server integration services (SSIS)
  • The following are desirable: 
    • Xamarin Forms / MAUI (mobile development)
    • 3rd party UI frameworks (DevExpress, Telerik, SyncFusion)
    • Azure - functions, Event Grid, Event Hub, Service Bus
• Experience within the following industries or subject domains is highly regarded;
