Caring for our city, creating a future for all

Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.

Be part of a purpose-led organisation, with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join the City Access and Transport team to provide high quality planning advice on development assessments, focusing on major state-significant projects and precinct plans. The successful applicant would also lead the development and implementation of strategic transport planning objectives for the City of Sydney.

The ideal candidate has strong and proven skills in:

  • assessing the impacts of proposed developments on walking, cycling, public transport and traffic
  • providing reliable, well-researched and balanced advice consistent with the organisation’s position, to achieve desired outcomes in complex inner-city contexts
  • maintaining effective relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders and balancing their competing interests
  • using data and evidence to understand issues and tell compelling stories
  • communicating complex information to a diverse audience in a way that encourages engagement and advances the City’s positions

The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the NSW planning system, as well as land use and transport planning theory and their associated challenges in dense urban environments. They should be able to use their knowledge and experience to help progress the City’s vision and objectives through the advice they provide.

At the City of Sydney, you’ll join a dedicated team where individual effort is part of something much bigger – creating great things for our city’s dynamic future.

To apply: Upload your resume and respond to the application questions to show how you meet the role’s requirements. Select 'Apply' to complete your online application.

The successful applicant is required to complete a pre-employment health declaration and criminal history check.
