Your Opportunity

As a Senior Tutor of a TAFE Queensland teaching and educational delivery team, you will contribute to supporting quality learning services to a wide range of clients.

This position reports to the relevant Operations Manager. 

This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity until 30 June 2025 unless otherwise determined.

Location is negotiable across all TAFE Queensland campus's. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct tutorial activities designed by a supervising teacher, in a range of learning environments, including classroom,workplace, simulated, online or other mode of delivery, to revise and reinforce learning on content that has beenpreviously instructed by a Teacher, Senior Teacher, Leading Vocational Teacher or Educational Team Leader.
  • Facilitate learner skill development, provide support and guidance under direction and provide feedback.
  • Supervise, support and/or contribute to the collection of assessment evidence, under the direction of a Teacher, SeniorTeacher, Leading Vocational Teacher or Educational Team Leader.
  • Participate in compliance and quality assurance activities as required.
  • Provide support to students in preparing for assessment processes and where academic progression intervention isrequired, as directed.
  • Meet with teachers on a regular basis to discuss individual student needs and issues, learning activities and subject-matter content.
  • Monitor student participation and engagement in tutorial activities and provide regular feedback to teachers on studentprogress.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure students adopt and practise acceptable safety procedures andsustainability at all times.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, development and review of educational programs and learning content as part of aneducational team.
  • Provide advice on industry trends and current industry practices.
  • Co-ordinate, maintain and store required documents and records as per team requirements.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland’s quality assurance processes by adhering to the implementationof quality systems, processes and documentation.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on Our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Possess industry-specific skills and knowledge relevant to the course/program for which tutorial support is beingprovided.
  2. Possess ability to contribute to course planning, development and assessment through participation and contributionwithin a team focused on student learning and skill development.
  3. Demonstrate capacity for self-management, participative decision-making, team participation and the ability toaccept, promote and manage change.
  4. Demonstrate capacity to strengthen the links between industry, community, education and other providers ofeducation and training.
  5. Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on student engagement, applied and active learning,instructional skills, current and emerging technology, maintaining and updating skills and contemporary industrypractices.
  6. Possess ability to demonstrate instructional effectiveness including knowledge of contemporary industry practice,content knowledge, quality student interaction, technical applications, and ability to impart knowledge of acceptedsafety practices

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

a. Possession of vocational competencies at least to the level of the unit(s) of competency that tutorial support isbeing provided: Certificate III in Information Technology or Certificate IV in Cyber Security.

b.Possession of one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40116/40122 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacyand Numeracy Skills and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools;
  • TAE50111 - Diploma of Vocational Education and Training;
  • TAE50116 - Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or its successor;
  • TAE50211 - Diploma of Training Design and Development;
  • TAE50216 - Diploma of Training Design and Development, or its successor;
  • Higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

c.  Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;

d. Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;

e. Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • The duration of this position will be dependent on work demands and the availability of ongoing funding.
  • You may be required to travel and work across the region
  • Travel and overnight absences from base may be required of this position.
  • It would be highly desirable for the incumbent to possess a current driver’s licence.
  • A criminal history check will be initiated on the successful applicant.
  • A non-smoking policy applies across TAFE Queensland campuses, in TAFE Queensland buildings, offices and motorvehicles.
  • If the successful applicant has been engaged as a lobbyist, a statement of their employment is required.
  • You will be required to complete a period of probation of six (6) months.
  • You will be required to complete a range of training activities within the onboarding and induction period, includingsystems training.
