Your Opportunity
For nearly 40 years, our ‘Do year 11 and 12 differently’ Senior Studies program has met the unique learning needs and future goals of students by providing them with a practical and independent study alternative. As a key member of the Senior College team, you will provide academic support to individuals and groups of students. Tutor support will be required in and out of the classroom based on the year 11 and 12 senior syllabus and relevant QCAA subjects.
This opportunity reports to the relevant Educational Team Leader and will be primarily based at Alexandra Hills campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to students through conducting tutorial activities in a range of learning environments to review and reinforce previously instructed learning content under the QCAA syllabus.
- Facilitate learner skill development, provide support and guidance under direction and provide feedback.
- Supervise support and/or contribute to the collection of assessment evidence, and undertake compliance and quality assurance activities as required.
- Provide support to students in assessment processes and where academic progression intervention is required, as directed.
- Meet and communicate with teachers on a regular basis to discuss individual student needs and issues, learning activities and subject-matter content.
- Monitor student participation and engagement in tutorial activities and provide regular feedback to teachers.
- Provide tutorial assistance, guidance and subject-matter advice to students and invite regular feedback from students.
- Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure students adopt and practise acceptable safety procedures and sustainability at all times.
- Co-ordinate, maintain and store required documents and records as per team requirements and confidentiality standards
- Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland’s quality assurance processes by adhering to the implementation of quality systems, processes and documentation.
- Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on Our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.
- Participate in relevant professional development, peer and one to one supervision ensuring a consistently high standard of best practice within professional boundaries and legislation requirements.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities within the context of the key responsibilities outlined above: * Capacity to provide academic support that meets the needs of diverse learners undertaking general and essential subjects in the Senior College environment.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining productive professional relationships with relevant stakeholders including students, teachers and support teams that contribute to positive educational outcomes.
- Proven capability to work autonomously and as part of a team while remaining flexible and adaptable to organise and prioritise own workload and apply well developed organisational skills to tasks or projects.
- Demonstrate a high level of communication and collaboration with colleagues to contribute to identifying and addressing the academic needs of students effectively.
- Successful completion of Senior English and Maths in Year 12 or equivalent.
