We are currently seeking a Senior WHSEQ Manager to join our team.

About the Role:

Reporting the Business Services Manager, this newly created role will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel.  This role encompasses overseeing and implementing comprehensive WHS policies and procedures, leading our site-based project teams through a risk-based approach to develop effective safety strategies, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.  You will be given the opportunity to collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation and standards.  Your leadership, expertise, and commitment to safety excellence contribute significantly to the successful execution of projects while safeguarding the welfare of employees, subcontractors, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational direction, support and oversight of all aspects of health, safety, environment, sustainability and quality across the business 
  • Management of the IMS and ISO Compliance (ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001) including:
    • Maintaining systems, ensuring compliance, and driving excellence
    • Management of internal audit schedule and coordination of third-party audits for accreditation
    • Continual review and implementation of safety documentation including SWMS, policies and procedures
  • Preparation of safety and compliance reporting as required
  • Influence and build a positive safety culture throughout our workplaces.
  • Oversee our Corporate & Project risk assessments, audits, and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Develop and deliver safety communications through toolbox meetings, safety alerts, educational posters, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national Work Health and Safety regulations, and establish new processes as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, manage incident reporting and investigations.
  • Drive environmental sustainability initiatives to align with our commitment to responsible business practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum WHS Qualification – Diploma of Work Health and Safety (Mandatory) 
  • Proven experience in managing WHSEQ functions, preferably in construction
  • Regulatory & Audit knowledge
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Advantageous;
    • Audit qualifications
    • Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training
    • Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work experience
    • Current First Aid Certification, and Emergency Response Training.
  • Some travel to remote sites might be required.
  • Experience working in high growth, fast moving project environments with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritise competing workloads and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • High level of autonomy and ability to use initiative
