Avisure is a consultancy that has supported the aviation industry with specialist wildlife and operations expertise for over 25 years. We are regarded as the industry leaders in the field of wildlife strike mitigation, having completed projects for air operators, regulators, and airports. We have worked at more than 100 national, international, and military airports since 1996. 

Our consulting services help our clients to reduce wildlife hazards with comprehensive risk management strategies, staff training and ongoing management programs.

Our Head Office is based in Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast, with a branch in Adelaide and operations in Victoria. 

About The Role 

Based in the Gold Coast area, you will be reporting directly to the Northern Australia Wildlife Team Leader and joining the Avisure Queensland team. 

As a Senior Wildlife Consultant, you will be joining a team of specialists who share your passion for managing human-wildlife conflict and developing and delivering customer focused outcomes. You will leverage your expertise in wildlife biology and/or aviation management, information sourcing, research, and data analysis to craft impactful engagements, proposals, reports, and presentations for clients. You will help mentor staff and be an important part of our quality review process through technical and legal review of deliverables. In addition, you will manage projects including budgeting, resource and equipment planning, liaison with clients, coordinating project teams, and administrative tasks such as project performance review.

While this role is office-based, occasionally there is work to be conducted in the field outside of regular business hours, including travel. Therefore, flexibility with availability is important.

As part of the employment process, you will be required to undertake a fitness for work assessment as well as successfully pass ongoing drug and alcohol screening as part of our client requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Tertiary degree in biology, environmental management, wildlife or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience working in consultancy, wildlife management, project management, and/or data analysis positions.
  • Proven track record of managing project timeframes, field resources, and budgets.
  • Exceptional report writing and data analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in the preparation, coordination and writing of large-scale client-centric proposals and other technical documents.
  • Experience in leading and supporting quality improvement activities.
  • Strong computer skills with a high proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Bird identification skills and experience in conducting wildlife surveys.
  • Professional communicator who is reliable, self-driven and able to prioritise workload.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex scientific data and technical reports.
  • Ability to obtain Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC) – requires criminal history check.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills. 

The following skills and attributes would be highly regarded: 

  • Experience in quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of AI-powered and/or automation software packages.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or working knowledge of airfields and the aviation environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in wildlife management and understanding of wildlife behaviour.
  • Experience with stakeholders and public speaking.
